“Drive” is considered by many as one of the best Winding Refn movies and I absolutely agree with it. The peculiar photography has an ethereal look that matches perfectly with the slow-paced narration of the movie: the film takes the time to properly develop its characters, standing out from the more fast-paced rhythm of an average action Hollywood movie. Nonetheless, the film has several adrenaline-induced car chases and graphic brawls.

The iconic robbery scene is simply a masterclass of tension-building, keeping the audience at the verge. No, extreme and impossible maneuvers, just a guy using his skills to evade the police. This is hands down one of the best chases that I ever watched in my long experience as a movie aficionado.
Ryan Gosling’s performance is stellar. He does not have many dialogue lines, his looks and postures were saying more than a thousand words. In general the movie is relying a lot on visual communication. Bryan Cranston, despite his small role, was able to provide an impressive cameo. The chemistry with the protagonist was on point.

Stunning retrowave soundtrack that left quite a legacy
The retrowave songs heavily influenced by the ‘80s and ‘90s culture compose one of the most iconic soundtracks in history. I really believe that Nightcall and A Real Hero do not need an introduction and I am pretty sure that at least once everyone eventually listened to these songs.
